The Shape of Things (2003)

Rachel Weisz plays artist Evelyn Ann Thompson

The Shape of Things on IMDB

When Adam, an English Literature major at Mercy College, a fictitious Midwestern college, meets Evelyn, an attractive graduate art student, at the local museum where he works, his life takes an unexpected turn. Never having had success with women, he is flattered when Evelyn shows an interest in him and, at Evelyn's suggestion, begins regular exercise regiment, eats healthier foods, and purchases contact lenses. These initial changes regarding Adam's physical appearance are well-received by Adam's friend Phillip and erstwhile love interest Jenny. Later however, Evelyn cajoles Adam into undergoing plastic surgery and succeeds in persuading him to cut himself off from Phillip and Jenny.
In the penultimate scene Adam learns that he has been part of Evelyn's MFA thesis project, a topic often touched on in conversation throughout the film but never fully explained. Evelyn relates that she had been instructed to "change the world" by her graduate adviser, but that she has chosen to change "someone's world", her academic work ultimately consisting of "sculpting" Adam into a more attractive human being. She presents Adam before an audience of students and faculty as her creation. Accordingly, none of the feelings she has shown him throughout the film are genuine; at no stage in their "relationship" does she fall in love with him; her videotaping of their lovemaking is just a part of the project's documentation. In fact, she announces before a live audience at her gallery opening that she is not going to marry him and the engagement ring he offers her is simply one of the exhibits of her art installation, albeit the "capper to my time at Clarkson."
Publicly humiliated and devastated, Adam confronts Evelyn, demanding an explanation for her actions. She responds by saying that he should in fact be grateful to her, claiming that, objectively speaking, she has been a positive influence on his life, making him a more attractive and interesting person in the eyes of society.
In the final moments of the film, Adam stands alone, surrounded by the remnants of his life before Evelyn. Moving to a camcorder, he watches a section of a tape recorded earlier in the film, a moment in which Evelyn had whispered in his ear what she described as the one "true" thing of their relationship. The film ends as Adam watches and continuously rewinds the tape, listening to Evelyn's truth over and over again.

Leaving Metropolis (2002)

Troy Ruptash plays artist David

Leaving Metropolis on IMDB

'David (Troy Ruptash) is a well-known artist who is blocked. He decides to take a job as a waiter to try to find inspiration. His friend and roommate Shannon (Thom Allison), a pre-op male-to-female transsexual, stumbles across the Main St. Diner, owned by Matt (Vince Corazza) and Violet (Lynda Boyd), who are looking for a waiter. David gets hired and quickly becomes close with the couple although they don't know of his standing in the art community and are surprised to learn that he's gay. David's friend Kryla (Cherilee Taylor), a columnist for the Winnipeg Tribune, tracks David down at the diner against his wishes. An annoyed David demands that she write up the diner in her column, which she does. The diner's business picks up considerably.
Shannon, whose sex reassignment surgery has been repeatedly delayed because of her HIV-positive status, begins to become ill. David has a painting installed and Kryla gets his photo in the paper. Matt and Violet see the photo and realize that he's famous.
David and Matt start hanging out. Matt, who had tried his hand at drawing comic books, pesters David to show him his paintings but David resists. Matt confesses that he had once fallen in love with another man in college although he hadn't acted on it. David, finding himself drawn to Matt, paints him nude (although Matt doesn't pose). He tells Matt that there's a painting he needs to see. Matt comes to David's place and sees the painting. He becomes aroused and the two begin an affair.
David paints two more portraits of Matt, who still doesn't actually pose. Kryla and Shannon hail them as his best work and entreat him to exhibit them but Matt, nervous about how Violet would react, makes him promise not to. Each also tells the other that he loves him. They keep the relationship secret, though, especially in the face of the vehement disapproval Kryla expresses to David at the idea of his sleeping with a married man.
Kryla soon discovers the affair when she walks in on David and Matt having sex. A panicked Matt tells David that he lied about loving him and flees. In the aftermath of the affair, Shannon convinces David to break his promise and exhibit the paintings. He does so under the title "Straightman." When Matt learns of the show he confronts David, first threatening to destroy the paintings and then offering himself again sexually. David contemptuously dismisses him. Matt tells Violet about the paintings and about the affair and admits that he is in love with David. She demands a divorce.
Shannon, who has grown progressively more ill, decides to take her life. As she dies, David runs into Kryla at a bar and they have a bitter fight.
Violet attends the opening but merely tells David that the paintings are very good. As she's leaving Matt arrives and she refuses to give him another chance. After the opening Matt again approaches David who also rebuffs him.
At film's end, Matt has left town. David has also decided to leave. He and Kryla reconcile.'

Devil's Pond on IMDB

Devil's Pond (alternatively known as Heaven's Pond) is a direct-to-video horror movie starring Kip Pardue and Tara Reid. It is about two newlyweds, where the husband (Mitch) seems ideal until he begins perpetrating domestic violence and exhibiting other cruel behaviors. He is fed up with all the ugliness in the world, and so he isolates his new wife (Julianne) from the world. He controls every detail of their lives in order to make things turn out the way he wants them, and continually hits her when she tries to oppose him, get away, or even talk to him about their situation. She doesn't stand for this abuse and continually tries to escape. He is keeping the two of them in a secret place on an island in the middle of a secluded lake. He knows that she cannot swim, and is scared of the water. One time, she gets too close to getting away, and almost escapes before 'Mitch' finds her. He then chains her to anchors and other things around the island to make it impossible for her to escape. One day, she lights all their matches on fire, so he is forced to go into town to buy new ones. While he is gone, she gets an axe and breaks free from the chain. He comes back unexpectedly early, and she is almost discovered in her act of escape. He finds her and starts beating her the hardest he has ever done. Throwing her around, pushing her on the ground, hurling objects at her face, and all the while, she is screaming. Finally, she gets a hold of a gun and shoots him. He is not dead, but immobile. She gives him a couple of last words before leaving him to die. She leaves him laying there alone, the gun within reach. A shot is later heard indicating he killed himself. Overcoming her fear of water, she swims across the pond to the other side and walks away down the road to an unknown fate, but free.
